Turretts/Tourettes

Friday night I was enjoying myself at the home of a woman who does scrapbooking at least once a month (and actually on Tuesday evenings as well). Fortunately or unfortunately I was my "usual" self, laughing, saying things that made others laugh--I was supposed to be accessing the local wifi so I could upload photos to snapfish.com for developing, but I never did get online, so I did a lot more talking than even is usual for me--and our hostess said, "You never know what is going to come out of Marylu's mouth. It's like having a friend with tourettes!"
I am alternately flattered and concerned, but mostly flattered. Then again...

I thought that was one of the funniest, if not THE funniest thing ever said about me/my personality. I've been told as early as in my 20s, "Marylu, you are a piece of work." "You are funny. You should be a stand-up comedian." "Marylu, you are crazy." I am under no delusions about the stand up thing. My little group of acquaintences may think I'm funny, but I know if I were placed in a different or larger group, folks would not find me so much funny as irritating. So, Ellen can keep her day job.
